GDSN® Initiative
Walgreens, the largest drug retailing chain in the United States, is recognized and respected for its high-tech approach to information technology and customer service within the CPG and healthcare industries. In order to continue its rapid record of growth, both in terms of number of stores and in the sophistication of its supply chain optimization, Walgreens has undertaken the project to begin synchronizing product data with its suppliers. Walgreens is taking steps to further improve its operating efficiencies and the accuracy of the data represented in its product catalogs by using data synchronization via the Global Data Synchronization Network™ (GDSN®). Walgreens has partnered with 1WorldSync as its GDSN-certified data pool and will begin requiring its suppliers to use data synchronization to transmit their item data to Walgreens. Walgreens aims to synchronize all mandatory GDSN item attributes. By streamlining product data through the GDSN, Walgreens can leverage accurate, consistent product and company information throughout all levels of the supply chain.
